Detailed parameters:

Shenyang Taige Oil Equipment CO., LTD Pressurized Consistometers, TG-8040, are specifically designed to measure the thickening time of cement slurries in strict compliance with  API Specification  10A and  API RP-10B Schedules. In addition, the units can be used to  prepare slurries for the measurement of free water content, viscosity, fluid loss, and rheological and various other properties.

Cement slurries for testing are mixed with a Shenyang Taige TG-3060 Constant Speed Mixer in compliance with Section 5 of API Spec 10A and API RP-10B. The slurry is then poured into the slurry container and placed in the consistometer. Next, the pressure and temperature in the consistometer are brought up to the desired levels  -- according to either  API cementing recommendations or the conditions of a specific well. The slurry container is rotated at a constant speed of 150 rpm to impart circulation to the cement in the slurry container.

The TG-8040 series of Consistometers have wide pressure and temperature operating ranges up to 40,000 psi (275 MPa) and 599F (315). They are available with either magnetic or packing-gland type seals for the rotational drive of the slurry cup. With high temperatures and pressures applied to the cement, it is possible to simulate a variety of conditions found in actual downhole well cementing. The thickening time measured can then be used in formulating plans for the actual cementing of the well.

Both single and dual cell units are available. The dual cell units offer the advantage of a minimum amount of laboratory space. They also offer a slightly lower cost per cell because two pressure cells are combined into one cabinet.

Measuring the thickening time of cement slurries is a fundamental procedure that must be done prior to primary or secondary oil well cementing. The proper technique and procedures are outlined in detail in Section 8 of API Specifications 10A and API RP-10B. Consistometers are used in laboratories involved with oil well cement research programs, research and testing of cement additives, cement manufacturers’ quality assurance programs, and the research and field labs of well servicing companies.

OPERATIONS

● Operation of the pressurized consistometer is simple with all of the operational controls conveniently located on the front panel. The readout indicators for viscosity, pressure, and temperature are easily read from the panel-mounted indicators and the data plotter.

● The consistometer is designed so that closure, heating, and pressurization can be achieved quickly. This ensures compliance with the requirement of Section 8 of API Spec 10A and API RP-10B Schedules. Only minimum delay is permitted prior to starting the test.

● The temperature controller will automatically control the rate of temperature rise of the slurry (temperature gradient). When the slurry reaches the desired maximum temperature, the controller will hold the slurry temperature at that level.

● Pressure is generated with an air-operated high-pressure pump. Control is maintained by adjusting the air pressure to the pump and by operating a pressure relief valve.

● The viscosity ( consistency) of the cement is determined by measuring the torsion  generated on a standard torsion spring  -- by the slurry pressing against a standard paddle as the slurry container is rotated (in compliance with API Spec10A and API RP-10B).
