TG-1220, TG-1220C and TG-1250 Atmospheric Consistometers are specifically designed to prepare cement slurries for the testing of various parameters in strict compliance with API Spec 10 A/B.

 The testing of cement slurries requires the measurement of rheological properties, fluid loss and various other properties. The TG-1220 TG-1220C and TG-1250 provide a simple and accurate method for conditioning the cement slurries in preparation for making these tests. API Spec 10 A, Section 7 outlines the requirements and provides the basis for the design and operation of Atmospheric Consistometers.

Cement slurries are initially mixed with a Shenyang taige TG-3060 Constant Speed Mixer in compliance with API Spec 10 A/B. The slurry is then placed into the TG-1220 TG-1220C and TG-1250 for any or all of the following tests:

a) Determination of Rheological Properties Measured as specified in Section 12, API Spec10B.

b) Determination of Fluid Loss at Temperatures less than 90 Measured as specified in Section 10, API Spec 10B.

c) Water Content of Slurry- Measured as specified in Section 7, API Spec 10A.

d) Arctic Cement Testing- Measured as specified in Section 14, API Spec 10B.The TG-1220 TG-1220C and TG-1250 are used in laboratories involved in oil well cement research programs, research and testing of cement additives, cement manufacturers’ quality assurance programs, and in the research and field labs of well servicing companies.

FEATURES

  Temperature is measured accurately using a microprocessor-based temperature controller.

   Rate of water bath rise can be controlled to conform to API Spec 10 A/B requirements or other temperature gradients desired.

   Stainless-steel water bath ensures long trouble-free operation in the normally corrosive cement testing environment.

   Operation simplicity provides freedom from operator error and a short training period for new operators.

   Units are designed for trouble-free oil field laboratory operation.

   Direct torque spring readout permits instant determination of the slurry viscosity in Bearden Units (Bc).

  Standard deadweight calibration is both simple and rapid, aiding measurement accuracy. ( An optional calibrator unit may be purchased.)

   Constant temperature is maintained by a motor-driven stirred water bath that eliminates any hot spots on the slurry containers.

   Rotational speed of the slurry container is held constant by the drive motor assembly, which is factory set at 150 rpm.

  A variable speed option is available for studies at slurry container rotational speeds other than 150 rpm.

   Internal cooling coils provide quick cooling of the slurry.

   The strip chart recorder option on the TG-1250 provides a permanent record of temperature and viscosity.

   The TG-1250 has viscosity alarms that can be set over the range from less than 30 Bc to 100 Bc. The alarms alert the operator that a specific viscosity has been obtained for recording data or taking other action.

 

OPERATIONS

The operation and calibration of TG-1220 TG-1220C and TG-1250 are simple and easy to learn. The cement slurry is prepared in accordance with API Spec 10B, Section 5 and then quickly poured into either of two available slurry containers in the unit. The stirring paddle is inserted and the lid placed on the container. The container is then placed into the temperature-controlled water bath and stirring is started. The unit is designed so the stirring operation can begin within one minute or less, in compliance with API Spec 10. The temperature of the water bath is indicated on the temperature controller panels of both the TG-1220 TG-1220C and TG-1250. TG-1250 has a strip chart recorder to make a permanent record of the temperature and viscosity during the test.
